Under the direction of the Board and the Manager, Internal Audit provides independent and objective assurance and consulting services to Denver Water. Internal Audit conducts audit engagements that review and evaluate whether appropriate risk management, governance, and internal control procedures are in place and functioning.
Owing to its unique position in the organization, Internal Audit provides advice and recommendations to improve internal control, but it is not permitted to make operational or policy decisions.
The Board and Manager have granted Internal Audit unrestricted access to all of Denver Water’s functions, records (manual or electronic), physical properties, and personnel relevant to the performance of the internal audit activity (see Internal Audit Charter). In turn, Internal Audit is committed to working in partnership with the organization to help it accomplish its mission.
