Director of Public Affairs
- Joined Denver Water as director of Public Affairs in 2011.
- Directed the marketing, air service development, research, media relations and customer service divisions at Denver International Airport, 2000-2011.
- Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from the University of Texas at Tyler.
- Master’s degree in communication from Baylor University.
Under the direction of the CEO/Manager, the Public Affairs division develops and maintains strategically effective relationships with a broad range of publics including customers, stakeholders, governments, communities, news and social media, related organizations and employees. The division also performs issues management and public outreach functions. The division’s responsibilities are maintained by three sections: Communications and Marketing, Government and Stakeholder Relations, and Conservation.

Communications and Marketing
Communications and Marketing is responsible for a variety of internal and external communications services for the purpose of fully informing the general public and public groups about Denver Water. The section is responsible for brand and issues management, and as a part of that, develops and coordinates employee communications; writing, photography and publishing services; digital communications (including Denver Water’s intranet and internet sites); marketing and branding; special events and promotions; youth education; speakers and tours programs; and traditional news and social media relations. The group also develops and coordinates communications campaigns for water conservation and other departmental initiatives.

Government and Stakeholder Relations
Government and Stakeholder Relations facilitates strategic relationships with external audiences, key influencers and organizations. Specific to Denver Water, this section coordinates and collaborates with Denver Water’s distributors, Citizens Advisory Committee, and the business community including outreach to diverse suppliers. As a part of establishing and gaining support and advocacy for Denver Water’s mission, programs and projects, the group maintains cooperative relationships with Denver City administration and other governmental agencies whose sphere of operation affects Denver Water. These include elected officials and regulatory agencies at the local, state and federal level. Denver Water’s sustainability program is also part of this section.

Conservation
Conservation develops and implements water conservation and efficiency programs designed to reduce water consumption throughout Denver Water’s service area. Programs are designed for a broad range of customers and include incentives and public outreach to inform and raise awareness and also induce behavior change related to water use. The Conservation section enforces Denver Water’s water waste ordinance through an education program.
