New boat ramp to be installed at Antero Reservoir

Aug. 20, 2012 - On Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, the south boat ramp at Antero Reservoir will close for the remainder of the 2012 boating season for construction of a new ramp. The reservoir’s north boat ramp will remain open through Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 when trailered boating will end for the season.

Denver Water will be installing a new south boat ramp that will accommodate up to three boats at a time, instead of one.

“The new ramp will improve access to the water for boaters at Antero,” said Neil Sperandeo, manager of recreation for Denver Water. “More boats will be able to get on and off the ramp at the same time, making the area less congested.”

The 38 campsites at the south side of the reservoir will remain open during construction, but the south side parking lot will be closed during this time for the staging of construction materials and equipment. The north side of Antero Reservoir is open for day use only, and no camping is allowed.

The north boat ramp is open seven days a week from a half-hour before sunrise to a half-hour after sunset. All boats must be inspected for aquatic nuisance species before entering the water. Inspections stations at the boat ramp are provided by the Colorado Division of Wildlife, in cooperation with Denver Water.
