May 28, 2010 - The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Water Quality Control Division lifted the boil water advisory that went into effect May 27 for homes and businesses between 10th Avenue and 24th Avenue, and Federal Boulevard and Tennyson Street in Denver. Recent samples indicate the water is safe to drink.
Customers may notice slightly discolored water and are advised to run all faucets inside their homes or businesses for three to five minutes before returning to normal household use. The running water can be captured and used to water plants or landscape.
Water pressure also might be slightly lower than usual, but it is expected to return to normal levels over the weekend.
Denver Water would like to thank customers for their patience and understanding over the past two days. The utility also thanks Deep Rock and Nestle, which provided water for customers during the advisory.
The boil water advisory was issued after there was a significant loss of pressure that was caused when a FasTracks contractor working near 12th Avenue and Knox Court ruptured a 30-inch conduit yesterday morning.
Denver Water went door-to-door to homes and businesses in the area to advise residents and businesses to boil water. Those who weren’t home received a door hanger. A Reverse 911 with a bilingual message went out to the area. The utility also distributed water during the advisory. The contractor repaired the conduit last night.
