Denver Water’s Operations and Maintenance division is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Equipment Operator II in the Source of Supply Section. Under general supervision, performs skilled work in the operation of heavy construction equipment used in Department operations.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications for appointment.
- Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions peculiar to the operations of heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of the methods and materials used in checking and servicing heavy equipment.
- Skill in the operation of heavy equipment used in Department operations, i.e. heavy loaders, road graders, semi-trailer trucks, single, tandem and multi-axle trucks, and heavy-equipment hauling combination vehicles.
- Ability to recognize and report abnormal operating conditions in equipment.
Qualifications for this position
Education: Graduation from high school, or equivalent education.
Experience: Two years’ experience in heavy construction, or truck or power equipment operation in the installation, maintenance and repair of conduits, ditches, or related facilities, depending on the requirement for specialized experience, including one years’ experience on a specific piece of heavy equipment as required.
License, Certificate or Credential: Must possess and maintain a valid Class A Colorado Commercial driver’s license, and have a satisfactory driving record on the date of appointment.
Other Requirements: may be required to perform on-call duty, work shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as directed, and work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
