Denver Water’s Operations & Maintenance division is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Water Treated Tech I/II. Under direct supervision, the successful candidate will assist in performing a variety of jobs necessary for the operation and maintenance of the Moffat Water Treatment Plant.
The successful candidate will also have the following qualifications for appointment.
- Knowledge of the standards, practices, methods, materials, tools, equipment and measuring instruments used in the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants.
- Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions peculiar to such activities.
- Knowledge of the operational processes utilized in determining and changing flow rates, chemical dosages, filter operations, laboratory testing, and recording meter and gauge readings.
Qualifications for this position
Education:
- Tech I Level: Graduation from high school, supplemented with vocation/college coursework in mechanical maintenance or water treatment or related science field.
- Tech II Level: Graduation from high school, supplement with two years’ coursework in water treatment techniques.
Experience:
- Tech I: One years’ experience in water treatment plant operation and/or mechanical maintenance work. Must obtain a Class ‘D’ Colorado Water Certification within two testing cycles or eighteen months of time of appointment, whichever is longer, and a Class ‘C’ Colorado Water Certification within three years’ of time of appointment.
- Tech II: Two years’ experience in water treatment operation and/or mechanical maintenance work. Must possess a Class ‘A’ Colorado Water Certificate on the date of appointment.
Both positions are required to work shifts, weekends and holidays as directed, and must be willing to work with and around hazardous chemicals.
