Hiring Range: $16.62 to $21.15 per hour
The best qualified applicant will have considerable knowledge of business English, legal terminology, principles, procedures and forms as related to secretarial work performed. Knowledge of modern office equipment, practices and procedures. Knowledge of specific computer applications for electronic filing, cite-checking and assignments as assigned by attorneys. Skill in organizing, preparing and formatting complex legal documents with speed and accuracy. Skill in word processing. Ability to handle multiple tasks and analyze documents. Ability to handle varied periods of heavy workflow and light workflow in a positive and effective manner. Skill in communicating effectively orally and in writing. Must use tact, discretion and mature judgment so as not to divulge information that may be detrimental to Denver Water’s position on legal issues. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other Denver Water employees and the public. Knowledge of techniques for effectively representing Denver Water in contacts with outside counsel, governmental agencies, business and professional organizations and litigants. Knowledge of court rules and procedures. Knowledge of federal, state, municipal and/or agency rules and procedures.
Education needed for position
Graduation from high school, or educational equivalent, supplemented by legal secretarial and/or legal assistant training. Some training as legal secretary and/or legal assistant is highly desirable.
Experience needed for position
Three years’ legal secretarial and/or legal assistant experience involving a variety of legal activities, including work in the areas of water, contracts, litigation, depositions, real estate, employment, or environmental matters.
Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge and skills listed.
College level coursework will be highly preferred.
