Conduit 308

For more information

If you have any concerns or questions about the project, please contact T. Lowell. If you feel your concerns have not been addressed by T. Lowell, please contact Denver Water.

Denver Water continues to expand the recycled water system, one of the key elements in our plan to secure water for the future.

Our contractor, T. Lowell Construction, will install Conduit 308 and accompanying distribution mains.

The nearly four-mile-long, 24-inch-diameter conduit will extend from East Andrews Drive and Peoria Street to East 56th Avenue and Chambers Road. The contractor also will install more than four miles of distribution mains in the area.

The conduit will connect to other recycled water pipes and conduit in the area. The pipes will serve irrigation water to parks and schools in the Montbello neighborhood.

Construction of the conduit and accompanying mains will require a significant amount of pavement removal, pipe installation and repaving work in residential and high-traffic areas.

The project should be completed in summer 2013.

Regular updates will be posted to this site. If you would prefer to receive these updates via email, contact Joe Sloan at 303-628-6320.

Major construction is complete. The project is well ahead of schedule. Final paving has been completed and traffic controls are being removed. Crews will be testing pipe sections over the next few weeks and finishing some small tasks throughout the project.

Denver Water and T. Lowell appreciates the patience and cooperation of the residents and businesses impacted by the project. Thank you.

The project is 85 percent complete. Currently two crews are installing Conduit 308 in Andrews Drive, working toward one another. There are two areas remaining for distribution main installation: the Crown Boulevard/Albrook Drive intersection and the Gateway Avenue/Chambers Road intersection (crossing northbound lanes of Chambers). Those areas are scheduled for construction in mid- to late-February. All the installed pipe is expected to be complete by the end of February. March will consist of testing and final restoration activities.

The project is 75 percent complete. One crew is working in Andrews Drive, east of Crown Boulevard. This crew will cross Crown Boulevard. early next week and continue east toward Titan Court. Pipe installation between Crown Boulevard and Titan Court is scheduled to be completed by the end of January. Asphalt and concrete restoration will be completed as weather permits.

Work continues on distribution mains in Crown Court and in Albrook Drive. These distribution mains will supply recycled water to Montbello Central Park and Village Place Park. Distribution mains are scheduled to be completed by mid-January and asphalt and concrete restoration work will be completed as weather permits.

Service lines will be installed across 56th Avenue in four locations over the next few weeks. The service lines will supply recycled water to the greenbelt on the south side of 56th Avenue.

    T. Lowell will be taking off Thursday through Sunday next week for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Currently the Conduit 308 crew is at 46th Avenue and Durham Court, working west toward East Andrews Drive. The crew will get to East Andrews Drive at the end of November and begin working west in Andrews.

Paving operations behind the pipe installation will be completed through North Durham Court on Nov. 26. Our next traffic shift will take place on Nov. 27, where westbound 46th will be closed between Durham and Andrews, and northbound Andrews will be closed between 46th and Dillon.

Global Underground is working in Scranton Court and will be there approximately two more weeks before they move to Crown Boulevard.

Conduit construction is proceeding west on 46th Avenue at Fairplay Way. Construction along 46th Avenue is anticipated to reach Andrews Drive on Nov. 26.

The crew working on distribution mains has completed tie-ins and short sections at 54th Avenue and Peoria Street. The crew will be working at Maxwell Place and Dillon Street, and then will be off for a few weeks to allow the directional drill work to catch up to their location. All distribution main work and restoration will be complete in Mawell, Uvalda, Dillon, 54th, Oswego, Tulsa and 46th by Nov. 2.

Global Underground has begun directional drill work on Scranton Court. The directional drill work on Scranton Court is expected to be complete by Nov. 12. Work along Scranton Court will eventually connect Elmendorf Park to Conduit 308. Global Underground will then move to Crown Boulevard to work on distribution pipe, which will eventually connect Montbello Central Park to Conduit 308.

Southbound Chambers has been reopened. Now the conduit crew is relocating Conduit 302 north of 56th Avenue, which will continue through the end of September. Upon completion, that crew will then move back to 46th Avenue and continue installing pipe west on 46th Avenue from Granby.

The distribution main crew completed open-cut installation in Uvalda and Maxwell and is mobilizing to Andrews and Tulsa. Work at Andrews and Tulsa is expected to complete in late October.

Paving and restoration activities are underway at Uvalda and Maxwell and are expected to be complete by the end of the month.

Global Underground crews continue to work in Maxwell on the east end. They expect to be complete in Maxwell by the first week in October. Full and complete restoration activities in Maxwell will follow and be complete by mid-October. Global will then mobilize to 54th and Oswego. That scope of work is expected to be complete by mid-October.

The Conduit 308 project is progressing south along Chambers nearing 46th Avenue. The conduit installation should reach 46th Avenue the week of Aug. 27, 2012. A crew will install a small portion of pipe in 46th and then relocate to 56th Avenue to complete the installation of the conduit at 56th and Chambers. Crews will work at 56th and Chambers to connect 308 to an existing conduit. The work at 56th and Chambers will take approximately three weeks to complete.

A second project, Conduit 302, will begin in late August. HCP Constructors will install the 36-inch recycled water conduit along 56th Avenue from Chambers to Tower Road. This conduit will be installed on property owned by Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge and should not impact traffic on 56th until the conduit crosses Buckley Road.

    T. Lowell also has a crew installing 12-inch distribution main south on Uvalda from 56th Avenue. They will continue south to Maxwell and then follow Maxwell to the east to Atchison. This scope of work will be complete in late September.

Global Underground is scheduled to resume directional drilling in Maxwell between Atchison and Dearborn in early September and complete that portion of work in mid-September.

Final paving is scheduled on 53rd Avenue east of Chambers for tomorrow.

Approximately 4,800 feet of the 24-inch recycled water pipeline have been is installed in Chambers Road from Gateway Avenue to 56th Avenue. A fused section of the pipeline will be installed under 56th Avenue. The fused pipe will be installed using a boring method rather than an open trench. A second section of fused pipe will be installed under Gateway in Chambers next week.

A subcontractor, Global Underground, will work on the fused pipe sections as our contractor, T. Lowell Construction, installs pipe in the trench. Directional drilling of an 8-inch pipe in Maxwell Place between Atchison and Dearborn streets will begin next week. Once T. Lowell completes work between 56th Avenue and Gateway, crews will work south from Gateway to East 46th and Chambers.
