Denver Water’s Moffat, Marston, Recycling and Foothills treatment plants recently received Gold Leader recognition by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Environmental Leadership Program. This achievement comes only one year after the plants earned Silver Partner status; organizations have up to three years to advance to the gold level.
The program recognizes Colorado organizations that chose to perform beyond state and federal regulations to improve environmental sustainability.
Denver Water reached gold level status by implementing an Environmental Management System at each treatment plant; creating an EMS representative program; identifying waste reduction, resource conservation and energy-saving opportunities; and setting objectives for future improvement.
By setting objectives and targets, Denver Water’s treatment plants have committed to long-term improvement, which ensures an enduring focus on constantly advancing environmental performance into the future.
