DENVER — June 19, 2018 — Jessica Brody, assistant director within the Denver City Attorney’s Office, has been selected as the new general counsel for Denver Water.
Beginning Aug. 7, 2018, Brody will oversee the Office of General Counsel, providing legal counsel and advice, as well as handling all legal representation for Denver Water, acting through its Board, CEO/Manager and employees.
“We are very excited that Jessica will be joining Denver Water as the fifth attorney to fill this distinguished role,” said Jim Lochhead, CEO/Manager. “Jessica has broad municipal experience, working with agencies ranging from public health to public works, as well as the mayor’s office and city council. Coupled with her experience in environmental law and complex litigation, and expert knowledge of regulatory matters, Jessica a perfect fit to guide Denver Water into the future.”
Brody, a Yale Law School graduate, has worked for the City and County of Denver since 2013, after specializing in environmental law at an international law firm for a decade. In 2016, Brody became the assistant director within the City Attorney’s Office, where she has continued her environmental practice while also supervising a diverse team of municipal attorneys.
There are several areas of legal practice involved in providing legal counsel to Denver Water, including water rights, contracts, civil rights, tort claims, real estate, natural resources, and municipal, employment, construction, environmental and regulatory law.
Denver Water General Counsel Patti Wells announced her retirement in February, and will continue in that role until Brody takes over in August. Wells has served as general counsel for Denver Water since 1991.
