Water-wise gardening for our climate

As Colorado’s semi-arid climate continues to warm, incorporating a variety of water-wise plants into our home landscapes is the right thing to do.

Again this year, Denver Water has partnered with Resource Central to provide a limited number of discounts to our residential customers on their popular Garden In A Box plant-by-number kits.

The spring sale for these water-wise garden kits starts in March. A second sale aimed for the fall planting season will be held this summer.

Why plant a low-water garden?

  • Easy water savings: Replacing just 100 square feet of lawn and hand-watering Garden In A Box’s water-smart plants can help you save more than 1,000 gallons of water the first year, and even more annually after three years — once the plants are established and need less water.
  • Curb appeal: Resource Central’s starter plants (not seeds) quickly add a pop of natural color and beauty to your yard.
  • Attract local pollinators: The colorful gardens offer an attractive habitat for butterflies and bees.
  • No green thumb required: Garden In A Box includes a plant-by-number map and a guide to caring for the growing plants.
