Turfgrass Removal

Water-thirsty Kentucky bluegrass doesn’t fit naturally into Colorado’s dry environment. It’s often a household’s biggest water user and therefore a great place to conserve water.

A good place to start: look for an unused area of turfgrass to remove (like an area that you only walk on to mow) and replace it with a climate-resilient ColoradoScape like cooling shade trees and water-wise plants.

Discounts for 2026 are no longer available for turfgrass removal

To help our residential customers remove turfgrass, Denver Water partnered with Boulder nonprofit Resource Central to offer a limited number of upfront discounts of up to $750 off their 2026 turfgrass removal services.

Due to popularity, the turfgrass removal discounts for 2026 have all been allocated to customer projects for the year: Resource Central no longer accepts new applications.
