Scott Gomer Creek carries water from high in the Mount Evans Wilderness near Mount Bierstadt (just visible in the distance, in the upper left) on a scenic journey near the Abyss Trail.

This water will wind its way southwest, where it will feed Geneva Creek and then travel further south until it meets the North Fork of the South Platte River.

That water, after a stunning journey through high country ranches and narrow canyons, eventually finds its way into Strontia Springs Reservoir, where it is captured and stored for treatment and delivery by Denver Water.

The picture, taken at about 10,500 feet above sea level in late June 2020, serves as a scenic reminder that the water running from your tap has made a breathtaking journey, through some of the most spectacular landscapes in the world.

Preserving wilderness and taking care of the natural environment are key to maintaining supplies that provide Denver Water customers some of the highest quality water in the West.
