Every year our people work together to deliver around 65 billion gallons of safe, clean, great-tasting drinking water to 1.5 million people in Denver and surrounding suburbs. 

From utility workers on the streets to reservoir caretakers in the mountains, it truly takes a village to get water to customers. It’s a job we take an enormous amount of pride in doing every day.

And even as the water flows to customers every day, Denver Water continues to prepare for the future, with major investments in the water system to ensure the needs of our growing community are met. 

Some of the accomplishments in 2024 include: 

• Adding 269 vertical feet of new, roller-compacted concrete to the face of Gross Dam. When the Gross Reservoir Expansion Project wraps up in 2027, the higher, wider, thicker dam will rise 471 feet above the streambed below.
• Passing the milestone of having replaced 30,000 lead service lines since the beginning of the Lead Reduction Program, bringing the program about halfway toward its goal of replacing all lead service lines in Denver Water’s service area.
• Celebrating the completion of the new Northwater Treatment Plant.
• Replacing 95,000 feet of aging water pipelines under city streets, including replacing of 5 miles of old water pipe under Colfax Avenue that dated from the 1800s. (The Colfax Avenue main replacement project is expected to wrap up in early 2025.)
