Big projects highlight a successful 2025 at Denver Water
Passion, dedication and lots of hard work.
That’s what Denver Water’s 1,000+ employees bring to the job, 24/7, serving 1.5 million people across Denver and surrounding suburbs every day of the year. Meet some of our people in this video:
Every year our people work together to deliver around 67 billion gallons of clean, safe, great-tasting drinking water to our communities.
From utility workers on the streets to reservoir caretakers in the mountains, it truly takes a village to get water to customers. It’s a job we take an enormous amount of pride in doing every day.

Even as the water flows to customers every day, Denver Water continues to prepare for the future, with major investments in the water system to ensure the needs of our growing community are met.
Some of the accomplishments in 2025 include:
- The Lead Reduction Program. While there’s no lead in the water Denver Water delivers to customers, the utility has reduced the risk of lead getting into drinking water from old, customer-owned lead service lines and household plumbing by adjusting the water chemistry. Additionally, since 2020, more than 35,000 customer-owned lead services lines have been replaced at no direct cost to the property owner.
- The Northwater Treatment Plant. The new treatment plant, which began operations in 2024, can clean up to 75 million gallons of water per day and be expanded when needed to 150 gallons per day.
- The Gross Reservoir Expansion Project. Work on raising the dam began in 2022; the project is designed to nearly triple the reservoir’s storage capacity.
- The Landscape Transformation Program. The utility is helping customers remodel their landscapes, which are often dominated by water-intensive Kentucky bluegrass, into water-wise, climate-resilient ColoradoScapes.
- In addition, the state’s largest water provider continues ongoing work to replace aging water mains, upgrade infrastructure on the utility’s southern collection and treatment system, and reach a net-zero carbon emissions goal by 2030.
From everyone at Denver Water, it was an honor to serve you in 2025 and we look forward to a great 2026!
