Celebrating Bring Your Child to Work Day

First event at Denver Water since 2019 draws children — and their parents.

Filtering dirt and leaves out of water. Learning how a flood can wash away a carefully constructed community.

Drawing water in all its forms and peering into Denver Water’s innovative water capture and recycling system used both for irrigation and toilet-flushing.

All that — and a tour of the Moffat Treatment Plant — were on the activities schedule on April 27 for the first Bring Your Child to Work Day at Denver Water since 2019.

“We were so excited to host children of our employees this year, especially as this is the first time we’ve had this event since 2019 due to the pandemic,” said Nathan Sassano, Denver Water’s well-being program manager who helped organize the event.

“We think it’s a great way to teach the next generation about the many different jobs we have here at Denver Water. And it’s a great chance for the kids to see where their parents work and to learn about the variety of people and jobs that are needed to deliver clean, safe water to 1.5 million people.”

Here’s a look at some of the activities that took place in 2023:
