How to remodel your yard into a ColoradoScape

Watch the video from Denver Water's free workshop featuring a local landscaper sharing her secrets to success.

Fall is approaching, and it’s a great time to think about — and begin making plans for — remodeling your yard to create a water-wise ColoradoScape that looks great!

To help you get started, Denver Water held a free in-person workshop Aug. 23, with Eryn Murphy, the owner of Restorative Landscape Design. Her company manages 20 to 50 yard and park conversions in the Denver area every year and Murphy is also a volunteer at Wild Ones Front Range, a group that promotes ColoradoScapes for a climate-resilient future. She's passionate about making native plant landscaping affordable and accessible.

If you missed it, you can watch the workshop at the video below:

The workshop focused on DIY approaches to ColoradoScaping, from removing grass to putting plants in the ground, including:

  • Fundamentals of preparation, installation and maintenance.
  • Practicalities of eradicating weeds or sod.
  • Ideas to plan for a low-water and low-maintenance garden.

Murphy also gave a presentation at Denver Water in September 2024, in which she shared a wealth of information about ColoradoScaping.

Watch her September 2024 presentation (below) to learn about selecting and arranging plants, creating habitat for pollinators, preventing weeds and more — all while reconnecting with nature.
