Overcoming 2020’s worst and striving to be the best

How construction on Denver Water’s newest treatment plant stayed on schedule, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s right there in our vision statement: Denver Water aspires to be the best utility in the nation.

That means being the best, even in the worst of times — like 2020.

And that includes continuing to work on one of Denver Water’s largest construction projects: the new Northwater Treatment Plant.

It’s a project for which planning started more than a decade ago, when Denver Water had to make an important decision that would affect its treatment and distribution system for the next 50 years or more.

The utility had to decide whether to renovate its aging Moffat Treatment Plant, built in the 1930s, or find a new location to build the newest component of our north collection system.

Watch the video above to hear what Denver Water decided to do, and how the project continued moving forward despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
