It’s easy to say changing a yard can make it more beautiful and still use less water. But it’s not so easy to explain how. There are so many types of projects that can bring so many different benefits, such as less maintenance and a better space for being social.

We know residents throughout our service area have achieved water-efficient results when they put beautiful, low-water landscape ideas into action. To better understand and measure customers’ outdoor water use, we began studying landscape transformations in the South, North and Northeast Park Hill neighborhoods.

We found these customers’ yard remodeling projects inspiring, and we can vouch for their efficient water use. A typical residential landscape uses 12 gallons per square foot of irrigated area annually. These projects demonstrate the ability for homeowners to have beautiful and functional landscapes while still using water efficiently.
