Design and Construction Standards

Denver Water’s Engineering Division is responsible for the Design Standards used on the design and construction of projects within the Denver Water Combined Service Area.

The Design Standards and Procedures provide information and requirements for Engineers, Contractors, Distributors, and Suppliers in providing materials and services to Denver Water. These documents are routinely updated to ensure best practices, specifications and details are maintained to ensure consistent project delivery and quality water for Denver Water’s customers.

Denver Water is honored to share this information with others for their efficient project execution. 

Engineering Standards

These Standards establish the requirements for installation, operation, and maintenance of service lines, distribution and transmission mains. The Engineering Standards are used in conjunction with the latest version of Denver Water’s Capital Projects Construction Standards (CPCS).

Capital Projects Construction Standards (CPCS)

The Capital Projects Construction Standards, 5th Edition (CPCS) establishes the standard requirements for projects within the Denver Water combined service area and collection system. CPCS is used for Denver Water capital project delivery.

Capital Projects Procedures Manual (CPPM)

This Manual is a guide to the workflows, procedures and policies for project delivery for Denver Water. The CPPM should be thoroughly understood and frequently consulted by outside parties working for Denver Water.

Pro Tip: These procedures are the "how to" for delivering and managing capital projects from inception to completion.

CAD Standards

The CAD Standards are used by Consultants on projects submitted to and approved by Denver Water. They include samples and CAD templates for the preparation and delivery of accurate and consistent drawings to Denver Water for Main Extensions and Easements & License submittals.

Capital Projects Drafting Standards

The Capital Projects Drafting Standards provide guidance for preparing and delivering accurate and consistent drawings for Denver Water Capital Projects. These Drafting Standards include AutoCAD production and shall be used in conjunction with the latest version of Plan Review CAD Standards and Capital Project Construction Standards.

Geomatics Technical Standards

The Geomatics Technical Standards include documentation on field practices for survey mapping and survey layout, feature definitions (point codes), survey control types, survey quality levels, and coordinate system definitions (Denver Water Grids).
