The Capital Projects Drafting Standards provide guidance for the preparation and delivery of accurate and consistent drawings for Denver Water Capital Projects and are managed by Denver Water’s Design Drafting section.

These Standards shall be used to establish project setup and deliverables prior to project initiation and include AutoCAD production and methods in accordance with the Denver Water CAD Standards; the project deliverable definition; the preparation of AutoCAD instructions for the project; and the establishment of project drafting standards.

Expectations for deliverables can be found in the Capital Projects Procedures Manual.

Refer to the CAD Standards and Capital Projects Drafting Standards documents. These documents are to assist with specific requirements to be met by the consultant. Where direction is not given in these documents, it is left to the discretion of the consultant.

When printing to a PDF from CAD, layer and font information should be included.

One layout per CAD file is required.

The label styles supplied in the Denver Water templates are set to the required precision. 

No, not at this time. Denver Water's CAD Standards include the necessary fonts, color tables, linetypes, blocks, and layers.

From the CAD Standards: “If the layers are insufficient, refer to the National CAD Standards (NCS) before contacting Denver Water’s Drafting Manager.”

Autodesk has a downloadable utility to remove excessive scales from multiple drawings. Refer to the Autodesk Knowledge Network for more information.

All abbreviations to be used are listed in the most current version of CPCS Volume 3. If there are industry-specific abbreviations (i.e. architectural) required then they shall be put in a list on/near the cover page.

The recommended method is to turn off the layer(s) for any labels.
